Cosmetics Strike

One evening earlier this week I emptied out my handbag with all the lip products housed inside. As they all layed there so pretty on my coffee table, I began to add up the cost. $120!!!!!

In that moment, I decided I needed nothing else. Well maybe just a backup brow pencil and a bottle of perfume. But I will NOT be purchasing any other new beauty products. I am officially (after the brow pencil and perfume) on STRIKE! I have way too much stuff. It’s out of control. But before I get too defiant let me just tell you guys about what I picked up recently as what I know to be my last hoorah…

Between a Nars Champagne Crawl and Sephora’s 20% off VIB sale, the last month has been makeup heaven. Early November one of my best friends sent me an invite to a Champagne Crawl hosted by the Nars boutique here in Atlanta. The event was in conjunction with a few other stores in the Shops Buckhead Atlanta. I am girl who never turns down champs (or coffee). When we arrived, we were greeted with a full glass of bubbly and also info that the entire Nars shop was 15% off. That means I automatically must buy something. As most of us know, cosmetics hardly ever go on sale or have a discount. The store was packed but we are petite and moved our way through the narrow aisles with ease. The associate who ended up helping us had on the most beautiful lip color. My bestie and I couldn’t stop looking at it. Finally we asked what it was and she let us know it was one of the new holiday lip colors; the Powermatte Lip Luster in Pierce. Needless to say we told her to throw it in the bag. It’s a super pretty reddish brown liquid lip that dries to a matte metallic finish. GORG! Get it! It’s limited edition so hurry! I also grabbed a new blush called Outlaw to rotate with my all time favorite blush by Nars, Lovejoy. We also split a new holiday set called the Riot Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Set. There are 4 matte pencils in shades of red. I took the more bolder of the two and the bestie snagged the softer colors. It was the perfect distribution.

My conscious told me that I didn’t really need those items because just days before, I picked up a few things during the Sephora VIB 20% off promotion. My rationale was that they weren’t duplicate items, they were purchased at a discount and damnit I deserved to splurge a little. SMH..

I only grabbed 3 items from Sephora, a backup Fenty Beauty Pro Filter Longer Foundation in shade 410. (I color matched myself by the way) I absolutely love this foundation. It’s a liquid that dries to a soft matte finish and it feels like I’m wearing nothing on my skin. Go Rih Rih! I’ve been wearing it since April or so after the crazy frenzy died down a bit. Did anyone else walk into Sephora stores disappointed because the Fenty display was wiped out, for months!?! The other item I picked up was a Bobbi Brown bronzer in the color, Deep. Lastly, I wanted to try Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. It’s powder supplement that you can add to hot or cold beverages that assists with skin hydration and elasticity, hair and nail support and joint/bone health. I have been using it now for about a week or so and have noticed that a particular joint by my ankle doesn’t crack when I walk. It’s super noticeable to me. As far as my hair is concerned…I’ll let you know after a few more weeks.

Wish me luck on my strike. Let’s say until 2019. Baby steps guys, baby steps. Do you guys like product posts? Whatcha wanna know?

xo,
